Mateja Čuk works as an attorney-at-law for Law firm Rojs, Peljhan, Prelesnik & partners o.p., d.o.o., where one of her main field of interests represent energy legal and regulatory issues. She started her career as an energy lawyer at the Directorate for energy, Ministry of the environment and spatial planning in 2004, immediately after her postgraduate studies of law at the University of Amsterdam. In 2007 she successfully passed state judicial examination and joined Slovenian power market operator Borzen, d.o.o., where she worked also as a Head of Legal and HR department. She was active in various associations such as EUROPEX in EURELECTRIC. She regularly gives lectures on the Slovenian energy regulation for ICES and ZDES and was nominated as the examiner for the state examination for managers of energy installations. She also had the opportunity to present the Slovenian energy regulatory framework to Slovenian judges. She is an author of the manual “Short overview of the new regulation on Slovenian energy system”, published by ICES in 2014 and of the contribution on the Slovenian implementation of the third energy package in the book, which will soon be published by Oxford University Press: Legal Aspects of EU Energy Regulation.
