Djordje Žebeljan, born in 1965 in Belgrade, holds a master’s degree in engineering. As a student he was gaining practical experience abroad through IAESTE at “Societe National de Chienins de Fer Luxembourgeois” in 1987 and in 1988 in Norway at Statkraft Aura Verkene. After graduation at the Faculty of Technologies in Maribor he was employed as a young researcher at the Jozef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana. After two years, he went to work in Netherlands in DSM Research d. d. He concluded his master’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering in 1992. He returned to Slovenia in 1993 to the Faculty of engineering in Maribor, where he spent five years as an assistant professor of mechanics. As a holder of DAAD scholarship he gained additional expertise at »Lehrstuhl für Technische Mechanik Friedrich-Alexander-Universität, Erlangen Nürnberg«. In 1998 he worked for the JP Elektrogospodarstvo Slovenije in research and engineering department. Numerous experiences led him to the position of Vice-Secretary of State at the Ministry for economics in 1999, and two years later to the State Secretary for energy at the Ministry for environment, spatial planning and energy. He concluded his career path in the public administration as the Director General of the Directorate for energy at the Ministry for environment.
In 2006 he joined the HSE d. o. o., where he is heading energy policies and new technologies department.
